Resources to Support Promoting Women in STEM

A collection of links, resources and publications to support the promotion of women in STEM study and women in STEM related careers.

The People Like Me resource pack equips outreach staff, teachers and STEM ambassadors with materials that can show girls from a diverse range of backgrounds that, if they continue with at least one STEM subject post-16, they are likely to have better prospects and more career choice. The pack contains a quiz to show girls where people just like them are happy and successful in their work.

Women have been historically under-represented in physics; progress is happening, but there is much work to be done. Systemic and cultural barriers still exist. Part of making positive change includes celebrating the contributions women have made to science, especially those women overlooked in their time. That’s why Perimeter Institute has created the “Forces of Nature” poster series.

Download them. Print them. Share them. Post them in classrooms, dorm rooms, living rooms, offices, and physics departments. Talk about these women. Share their stories.

The E&T asked seven creative ad agencies to take a fresh look at how they might promote engineering to young women. The agencies then produced a number of poster campaigns, follow this link to see the posters that they created.

International Women in Engineering Day takes place on 23 June annually. This day focuses attention on the amazing careers in engineering and technical roles for girls, and allows us to celebrate the achievements of our outstanding women engineers.
